The 1st meeting of Ramage Elementary School LSIC was held at school on September 24, 2009, at 4:30pm. Melinda Curry was appointed Recording Secretary for the council. The council discussed and set two goals for the 2009-10 school year. Those goals are as follows:
A). Try to figure out some sort of covering, such as tinting, for gym windows so that lighting is better in there
B). Turn large bathroom area outside office into a storage area.
Old Business:
Roger Barker, school principal, gave minutes from last LSIC meeting of 2008-09 term. Those minutes included fact that CSX Transportation had given Ramage Elementary a $1,500.00 grant to be used toward the purchase of playground equipment.
New Business:
Our school has received a $1,500.00 grant from the Boone County Board of Education matching the one from CSX for new playground equipment. We are in hopes of receiving a $1,500.00 matching grant from Boone County Commission also, making a grand total of $4,500.00 in funds available for new playground equipment.
It was discussed that possibly two new swing sets could be purchased for $1,112.00 each and possibly three sets of ball machines for $545.00 each. The idea was also discussed to install appropriate playground equipment at the kindergarten play area behind kindergarten classrooms.
We also review student discipline procedures to make sure discipline is being administered in a consisent manner.
