     Visitors are always welcome at Ramage Elementary School.

Please obtain a Visitors’ pass in the office upon your arrival. Parents are invited to serve on committees and to assist as classroom volunteers.  For safety reasons, all doors, except the main entrance are kept locked.  All visitors are required to sign in at the office upon visiting the school;

this includes all school premises.  We ask that you do not use the walking track while students are present.

      Parents wishing to receive their child must do so through the office.  Students will not be dismissed from the classrooms.  If you pick up your child at the end of school, please sign the check-out form located near the office and your child will be called to meet you.

     Individuals wishing to serve as school volunteers must first be approved by the school principal.  These names are then submitted to the Boone County Board of Education for final approval.  Under no circumstances will any individual be allowed to volunteer in the school without both principal and Board of Education approval.  It is the responsibility of the  individual to furnish TB test results when choosing to volunteer at the school.  Once approved, volunteers will attend a training session with the principal and then be given the opportunity to work on various committees or as assistants.  Only those individuals approved, will be permitted to ride the school buses to and from school functions; room permitting.

     Boone County Schools furnishes textbooks to all students free of charge.  The care of these books is the responsibility of each student.  All books are checked and numbered before being issued to students.  Books are considered damaged if written therein.  If textbooks are damaged or lost, it is the responsibility of the parent to pay for a replacement.  Any student who damages school property is responsible for cost replacement.

     Anything not needed for class should be left at home: cameras, radios, ball cards, yo-yos, recorders, pets, knives, matches, lighters, electronic games, guns, cigarettes, Walkman, headsets, Game Boys, boom boxes, etc.  Teachers are not responsible for student’s property.  Large amounts of money or valuables should not be brought to school.  If payments are made to the school, please send them in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and the teacher’s name written on the front.  Fireworks, tobacco of all types, alcohol and illegal drugs violate State and Local Laws.  Possession under any circumstances will result in serious penalties.

     We will not allow any student to threaten, intimidate, or injure another student.  If this happens, teachers will complete a discipline referral form and immediately escort the student to the office.  The parent will then be called to pick up the child.  Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct Policy in your child's planner for more information.

     We utilize School Messenger to notify parents of alterations in the regular school day.  Please make certain we have your current telephone number.   For any special instructions regarding delays, cancellations, or early dismissals, please listen to WZAC or WQBE radio stations.  Local TV stations will also air these announcements.

Boone County Schools' website (boonecountyboe.org) also lists delays and cancellations.

     In order for students to succeed in school, it is imperative that he/she attend school EVERY day.  If your child arrives late, please sign him/her in with the school secretary.  A tardy slip will be issued which will then be given to the homeroom teacher.  If you check your child out before the end of school, please sign the form in the office.

We realize that it is inevitable that children maintain regularly scheduled doctor's appointments.  Please note that our two most important subjects (Reading & Mathematics) are taught during the hours of 9:00am-12:00pm.  If your child needs to see his/her physician, please try to schedule appointments for late afternoon (after 3:00pm).

    To ensure the safety of all children, we DO NOT accept “call-in” bus passes.  All requests must be in writing so that a bus pass can be given to the bus driver.  If you are unable to be home when school ends, please make arrangements for someone to receive your child.  Your child will not be released to anyone other than those persons listed on the emergency form.  Please help us keep your child safe.
